Via.me’s Free iPhone App Puts Itself Between Instagram and Tumblr – With Ease

3 min read,

Taking photographs and videos today is simple as it gets; just point your smartphone, click the button and that’s it – the memory is created. Sharing is also easy: pick a desired image and send it to your Facebook or Twitter profile.

However, the problem with current apps and services is that they support only one type of media. Take Instagram for example – you can capture a photo, apply some filters and publish it. If you want, you can share it across your social profiles or add a small comment but that’s it. Via.Me wants you to change that because you don’t want to share just moments, you want to share the whole experience and story behind it.

Via.Me – Tell The Story

Via.Me is an iPhone application which makes it easy to create and share pictures, video clips, audio notes and even text! Of course, there are 18 great filters for your photos so you won’t have to edit them in some other photo editing app before sharing with your friends.

Once you’ve taken the photo and applied some filters, you’ll be able to share it across many different social networks with just one click. The photo itself will stay in your photo stream on your iPhone. Additionally, you can follow your friends on Via.Me to get instantaneous updates when they share some new content.

It’s All About The Social Content

Via.Me is basically a publishing platform, somewhat like Tumblr. It has all the social features like sharing, friending other people and checking out their feeds, news feed, feedback (likes) and profiles. Yes, the Instagram has all of this as well, but it lacks one important part – online profiles.

You can see a photo that a user uploaded, but you can’t see the complete album, right? That’s why Instagram lovers created services like Statigr.am or Web.Stragram.com so you could show off your insta-photo skills.

Via.Me

With Via.Me there is no need for third-party applications and services as it has an online profile for each user, where you can take a look at its photos, videos and anything else it may have shared.

What’s even better, you can share your content via your computer! So, even if you’re not an iPhone user, you can still use Via.Me to share your favorite content.

Via the Grid

When you open up somebody’s Via.Me profile, you’ll see that their content is arranged in a Pinterest-like layout, as a grid in which you can see the content itself along with the number of views and the comments. However, when you open up a photo, you’ll see thumbnails showing you a bit of other content that a user has uploaded.

Via.Me iPhone App

Although Via.Me did find inspiration in many other social tools (Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest), it turned out to be a really nice combination of all of them. That’s what we love to see – ok, you’re inspired with something, but you still need to create something yourself. If you haven’t already, sign up for Via.Me and get their free iPhone app!
