u:Plug Dares You To Imagine A World With USB Power Outlets

Technology has made our lives easier in so many ways, it has made us more mobile, more connected, more liberated in so many ways. Also, it has entangled us in a terrible mess of cables that keeps it charged and alive. Since Tesla’s great plan of wireless electricity never went mainstream, we still have to chug a whole set of different cables for each and every one of our beloved gadgets.
U:Plug, a Croatian startup, dared us to imagine a world where we don’t need different cables and chargers to power our electronics anymore, and then they set out to make it true with the simplest solution ever- a power outlet for charging all your electronics straight from the wall via USB cable only.
It’s A Power Plug… With A Twist
U:Plug is easy to install and doesn’t require any special tools or experience- it is a power outlet, after all, you know, like the ones you have all over your place, and you only need one hole in your wall.
It does come with a little twist- along with a double USB port there is also an ambient light that signals your charging status, going from a gentle blue to red hue.
The u:Plug team is set to replace the conventional wall power outlets with this new solution specially designed for the modern age and our dependence on the USB ports for charging our tech pieces.
The u:Plug outputs have a top notch electronics configuration and use the “Vampire drain” technology, with 2.0A and 5.0V of electricity on both USB ports, making it suitable for almost every single mobile electronics device out there. Also, they’re pretty sleek, in black & white.
The team behind u:Plug is pretty young, but they’re off to a good start and along with the development of their product and working on distributing it to homes and hotels around the world, they are also rocking hackathons and getting ready to up their game in every way possible.
Now if you’re still thinking you don’t really need a solution like that, when you’ve got your regular power plug, all you cables and adapters, and the similar paraphernalia, think about the last time you traveled and had to take additional converters for the funny looking plugs abroad. You know what kind of power plug is universal? A USB plug.
