The 4 Essential (.Me) Apps To Keep You Sane For Tomorrow’s Elections in the US

4 min read,

With the United States elections are scheduled for November 3rd for a number of seats, tomorrow, we’re certainly not the only ones keeping a close eye on who will represent some of the American people.

While we can just sit back, relax and follow our Twitter streams in order to (maybe) know everything about what’s going on, we should become more active at least a bit. By using a new generation of apps, we can either focus more or less on the elections, but technology definitely makes life during such a political process that much easier. Here are just some of the apps that will help you out:

Get Away From Political Email with Unroll.Me

Political parties and candidates have (un)fortunately learnt how to make use of the newest digital marketing strategies in order to promote their agenda! While Barrack Obama used social media surprisingly well in the last Presidental elections, most politicians still stick with email. And they send a lot of emails, a lot of newsletters, a lot of junk in our inboxes.

Thankfully, the always useful Unroll.Me just need one click to get rid of all the email that you don’t want to receive any more. Politicans just can’t take a hint sometimes, but I’m sure that out of the more than 100,000 Unroll.Me users, at least a couple of thousand opted-out of political newsletters!

Who Unfollowed You Because of Your Policial Views?

It’s always interesting to see who doesn’t want to see you tweeting about your political views, isn’t it? While we don’t have to agree with other people, do we really need to unfollow them on social media? It’s a good question to pose when you’re thinking about wearing your political views on your Twitter “sleeve”. If you’re losing a lot of followers because you’re tweeting about the Republican or Democratic party, you should think twice if you’re ok with it. And use Who.Unfollowed.Me to stay informed!

Chat About The Elections With Friends Outside the US, Why Don’t You?

While you can talk and talk and talk… and TALK with your friends in the States about the General election, it could be even more interesting to talk to people that live outside the country – and the states that are in question.

Unfortunately, not everyone uses Facebook Messenger or Snapchat, apps popular in the US. Years ago, US users communicated over AOL messenger, while Europeans preferred the Israeli ICQ. It’s time to download an alternative to Whatsapp, like Line.Me, a popular messaging app that has a growing following in Asia and South America. Instead of just looking inwards, let’s look at ourselves as the world sees us – for once!

Get Briefed on What Your Facebook and Twitter Friends Think!

The elections definitely get people talking, but with all the work we have, there’s never enough time to actually follow what our Facebook and Twitter friends are mentioning on those popular social media networks. Thankfully, News.Me gives you a free daily brief of the most popular stories from your social media feeds. With elections just around the corner, you can bet that the most popular and talked about stories are going to be about who is winning and who is going to be the opposition for the next couple of years.

Do you have any apps that you’d suggest we use today, tomorrow or in the days after the elections, in order to stay both sane even if our political options doesn’t win? Just tell us in the comments!
