StartupsBio.Me Is The World’s Startup Scene – On a Map!
StartupsBio.Me is a new startup for startups! Let me explain: It’s a global startup map based on all the startups and organisations that have added themselves to AngelList, the biggest startup database in the world and at the same time – the biggest social network of its kind.
StartupBio.Me uses AngelList’s public API for its simple, yet absolutely brilliant map that puts the startup world on top fo an integrated Google Map. Since Filip Topol, the founder, started with an already large number database, the map is a complete source for discovering the world’s startup scene, with over 14 thousand startups listed in the US alone.
Startups Around the World
You can search StartupsBio by typing in your query into the search box, or clicking on the map. By clicking on a particular country, you then get that countries or region’s startups and organisations listed in 4 types: Startups, Conferences, Accelerators and Influencers. While startups are basically AngelList listing that are updated with the API, StartupsBio.Me adds additional value by providing the lists of conferences, accelerators and, very soon, influencers.
Topol started the tool, like a lot of founders, as something he truly needed for himself. After attending numerous startup conferences, including our own WebFest.Me in Budva, Topol just couldn’t keep track of all the people and their startups that he met along the way. It took him about a month of afterwork coding to finish StartupsBio in its current, minimum-viable-product, form.
Why StartupsBio.ME?
Topol shares that when he was thinking about the name for the project, he really wanted it to reflect the idea of a startup community or ecosystem:
Since a biome is a complex biotic community maintained under the climatic conditions of the region it was perfect both because of the meaning and the .me ending which allowed me to use a .me domain.
Good choice, Filip. While StartupsBio.me might rely on AngelList for its list of startups, it adds more value with its simple yet usable interface and the additions of conferences, accelerators and soon – influencers!
