Wake Up Refreshed and Rosy: Calculate Your Sleep Cycles with SleepyTi.Me

For me personally, being a scholar, blogger and involved in music business means a lot of hours of the night spent online or in front of some kind of monitor. Sometimes peace and quiet are only achievable at that times. But that also means a lot of sleepless nights and messed up sleep cyclea and we all know that sleep is important for proper functioning. So to help you with you sleep schedule, here is Sleepyti.me.
Why Sleep? Isn’t That For The Weak?
But first lets talk about sleep and why it is important. Sleep is a natural reoccurring state that is characterized by altered consciousness relative to waking, inhabited sensory activity and inhibition of almost all voluntary muscles. Most biological systems in your body will go to heightened anabolic state, thus accentuating the growth and rejuvenation, so the expression ”beauty sleep” isn’t a mere excuse for (pretty) people to take a nap.
However, purpose and mechanisms of sleep are only partially clear at this point in history. Your metabolic system is decreased while you sleep, so one of the theories is that it helps to conserve energy. It is clear that it is not only important to get enough sleep, but also in “right” time. One should be asleep at least six hours before the lowest body temperature, which at humans is about 4.30 AM.
Four Stages Of Sleep
There are four stages of sleep. NREM (non-rapid eye movement) stage 1 is somewhere between sleep and wakefulness. NREM stage 2 is deeper sleep than stage 1 and it occupies about 45-55% of sleeping time. In NREM stage 3 almost all environmental stimuli no longer produce any reactions and it is stage where most of the parasomnias (sleep disorders) occur. Last and the most famous stage is REM (rapid eye movement) stage.
REM phase is also known as paradoxical sleep, because it is the hardest time to wake somebody up, and yet EEG waves are similar to those when a person is awake and consumption of oxygen is higher then when sleeper is awake. Function of this phase is unclear, but studies have shown if you deprive somebody of it, his or hers ability to learn complex tasks will be quite impaired. Adults reach this phase approximately every 90 minutes, making a full circle and going back to NREM stage 1. And that is where Sleepyti.me kicks in.

Depending on your schedule, you can put in your estimated time of going to bed and see when will each of your next 6 sleep cycles end. There is also an option to see when you should wake up if you go to bed right now. It will also remind you that average human will need about 14 minutes to fall asleep.
