ShoeAddicts for the iPhone: The “Instagram for Shoes” is in Beta!
The beta of ShoeAddicts.Me was released last week and we got a chance to test it out as well. If you missed our announcement for ShoeAddicts.Me, it’s an iPhone app/shoe lovers community. You have the most beautiful shoes in the world and you want to show them, but Instagram is too general to do so? ShoeAddicts.Me is the community you’ll love!
Since this is a closed beta test, you’ll need to get yourself on their mailing list to be notified for any future updates of the app and the release. Until then, check out what this project has to offer and if it can really become the “Instagram for shoes”.
For Real Shoe Lovers
When you start the ShoeAddicts.Me application, the first screen you’ll see is the Vitrine. It holds all the photos of your friends from different cities like Paris or Zagreb. If you slide one of those screens to the left, you’ll see the latest photos people took; hence the name. However, if you click on the city tab, you’ll get to see all the photos from that particular city in the world.
If you switch to Popular view (still in the Vitrine), you’ll get a view of the most popular shoes in the whole shoe loving community, while the Nearby tab view will show you photos from your local community around you.
The Shoeline and Shoe Talks
The Shoeline is a view in which you’ll see shoes of your friends and people you’ve decided to follow. Just like in Instagram or even Twitter, Shoeline will sort those shoes in a chronological order so you’ll get the newest photos at the top. There’s a brand name under each shoe and its estimated price. You’ll also see who “Heeled up” that photo and the comments. If you like the shoes on the photo, you can also “Heel it up” or leave a comment.
Shoe Talks is your social control panel. You’ll get all kinds of notifications; when you get a new follower or when a person heels up your shoe etc. However, if you click on Trending, you’ll see a list of the most popular hashtags in the shoe loving community. Click on any tag there and you’ll see all the photos tagged with it. Pretty useful if you’re looking for a particular color of shoes, model or a shape.
Finally, the Profile tab is pretty obvious – you can edit your profile, change the profile picture, find some friends (however, in beta this option isn’t available). When you try to share a photo, the app will try and locate you automatically, so sharing a photo of your best shoes shouldn’t be a problem.
