Seedhack sponsored by Domain.Me: Taking on Fashion and Online Retail in London
In order to explain what happens at Seedhcak, let’s start by explaining what Seedcamp is. It is a pan-European/London based accelerator that provides startups with seed money, office space, mentorship and support over a yearlong program. This company is running initiatives to support the European startup community such as Seedhack and Seedsummit.
In addition to its investment programme, Seedcamp runs an initiative to help budding entrepreneurs to get started in the form of Seedhack. Seedhack is a weekend long hackathon focused on a particular industry. Previous Seedhack events have included Financial Technology and Healthcare.
“Seedhack gives entrepreneurs critical insight into the specific challenges that industry needs to address. Meanwhile the corporate can tap into a sort of external R&D department.” (Wierd magazine)
Nice, isn’t it? Especially when you know that people in Seedhack really love working on things and improving their entrepreneurial skills. They live for new projects with good ideas and are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get some work done. Seedhack inspires them to find solutions for companies that lack fresh ideas and are desperately in need for some passion in their business.
“Our idea was, what if we could combine the two around a theme? What if we could bring talented developers from across Europe to create innovative solutions for organizations that desperately need them? Could this form great new companies that address untapped needs?”
Last two years they had big success, and they decided to repeat it this year as well.
So What Was Going On Last Weekend?
Over one hundred hackers gathered at Campus in London for Seedhack’s hackaton. Twenty one startups were working throughout the weekend. Prototyping, coding, designing was needed so everything could be done on time. A lot of hard work combined with great ideas ended up with positive results.
The teams were working late nights only to have few hours of sleep. First thing in the morning they were up and running. Some truly great mentors were helping the teams with their work. What more could you ask for? Innovative ideas, mentors, teams, awesome people around you and at the end – valuable prize!
Team behind Domain.Me is proud to say that this company has sponsored Seedhack and we are very grateful for the opportunity to be involved with such an innovative project. Seedhack’s winner was Relist – the global marketplace for excess luxury fashion for both off-price (professional) fashion buyers and boutiques/designers.
This project is just showing how important it is to support new ideas and challenge people to bring something new to the table. To be given a chance to show what you got, now that could be the biggest motivation for somebody. Often we crave for a chance to shine under a spotlight, but last weekend all the teams were sharing that spot!
