RocketStart.Me: Create A Landing Page That Simply Rocks (on Time and on Budget)!

I got to meet Michael Babich, the Founder and CEO of RocketStart.Me and Sergei Mazuk, their Co-Founder and Marketing Director, quite serendipitously – they were at the neighbouring booth at The Next Web 2012 Conference in Amsterdam. After the initial excitement of seeing a .ME service right next door, I was absolutely blown away by what they do.
In a nutshell, RocketStart.Me is a great way for you to easily build a sleek, smooth and functional landing page. The duo has partnered with the best designers to give you awesome templates to choose from, and among many features they offer is the use of your own domain name to access your page – talk about personalization!
We had a chance to interview Michael, who kindly told us a little bit about the vision behind RocketStart, its journey thus far and plans for the future. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that it will be a bright one – check out why:
Can you tell us a little bit about RocketStart? Where did the inspiration come from?
RocketStart is SaaS solution to build a perfect landing page in minutes, without any programming skill.
A landing page by RocketStart could be very powerful single entry point: for generating leads, describing product, service, promoting event, latest music release or independent film, connecting an audience to relevant social pages and much, much more.
Inspiration came from the situation when I had to create a simple “coming soon” landing page for a young startup. There was need in the emails registration, form check, logo and links to social networks etc. It took me three nights even with 10 years of web-site building experience to make it work smoothly on every device, generate leads and look good on every screen. At that moment I realized that people facing the same problem do not know where to start, especially in case if they do not have programming skills or hosting, server and nature of domains understanding. And there are lots of users like this.

What’s your favorite thing about RocketStart?
We are trying to make RocketStart as user friendly and fun to use as possible. So, RocketStart is about problem-solving and good emotions. That is why the web-site is designed with a little cartoonish positive and less corporate style.
Actually, in the very beginning we’ve registered domain StartRocket.Me as the main domain. Upon asking our American friends whether the domain looks good, we got comments that the domain looks more like online shop to sell blue pills for men. 🙂
How did you come up with the name and end up choosing the .ME domain?
From the very beginning we wanted the name to be associated with a fast start, skyrocketing and energy to launch the page very high. We also wanted to have a little personal touch. Zone .ME solves this emotional personal touch task. So, it was natural to choose .ME zone.

From the looks of your new video demo, RocketStart seems very well poised to become the About.Me for applications and business pages! What’s the vision, what’s your dream goal?
This is exactly true. In short, RocketStart.me is About.Me for businesses, independent professionals and marketers, but with much more advanced UI, logic and back office technology adding business marketing tools like detailed statistics, A/B testing, leads management etc. In the long run we plan to have open API for independent and third party developers to start creating widgets for RocketStrat pages, making it more popular and accessible. We want to become de facto the main tool for a landing page creation. I’d say that we target to become the WordPress of landing pages.
What are your plans for the near future? And finally, the question that’s been on all of our minds here in the .ME headquarters, when will a public beta become available?
Right now, upon testing the prototype, we are improving RocketStart UI. We want to add more functionality and make RocketStart tools to be more user friendly. The whole team is focused on the beta. We plan to launch it publicly during the summer 2012. It is very important for us after the launch to show how useful and easy our service is and start generating traction. This will be the first real metric for us and investors. We are very excited!

In addition to the constant hard work on improving their service, this promising new start-up just won 2nd place among all Russian start-ups at 42 Conference, the conference & start-up exhibition held in Moscow on May 28th and 29th. They’re going public any day now, so don’t miss out on the chance to create a smashing landing page as soon as they are.
