Registering a Domain for Your Blog with GoDaddy.com
Being one of the most recognizable names in the domain industry, GoDaddy.com is an ICANN accredited registrar where you can get .me domains for your blog in just a few steps! GoDaddy also holds a scholarship fund with .Me that picks 10 students that get a $10,000 tuition.
GoDaddy was founded in 1997. by Bob Parsons and today it has grown into the GoDaddy Group which consists of several companies and holds more than 49 million domain names under management.
What Kind of Domains Can GoDaddy Provide?
You don’t have to worry about missing a domain name with GoDaddy. If it’s available, GoDaddy can register it with any TLD (Top-Level Domain) you want! Commercial domains like .com or .net, domains for personalizing your site all the way like .me and others are waiting for you.
Aside from traditional domain names, GoDaddy will provide you with IDN domains as well. IDN stands for Internationalized Domain Name and what it means is that you can register a domain name with your local script and characters. For example, I could register nikolakrajačić.com. Of course, some of you might have a problem with entering a couple of characters, so I won’t do it 😉
OK, So How Do I Purchase a Domain Name?
To register a domain name with GoDaddy, you need to enter a desired domain name into the large search box on their homepage. Click the Go button and wait for the results. You will now see if your domain name is available or not. You’ll also get a nice overview of additional domain names that you might be interested in. Select z few of them and Continue to Registration.
You will need to create an account with GoDaddy at this step, or log in if you already have one. After logging in, you’ll be asked for the length of registration and your DNS servers. If you’re not sure about that, don’t worry and leave it is since you’ll be able to change these records later in the settings.
After a few clicks you’ll be ready to checkout. But don’t hurry, as GoDaddy often has promotions and you can get some promo codes for your domains. If you have one, enter it here and click Continue to Checkout. You can pay via credit card, gift card, check or via PayPal. Once your order get processed, you’ll find your domain in the domain manager.
GoDaddy and .Me Support Students!
