PRSA Georgia Phoenix Award: Why Domain.ME is Great for Spanish Speakers

We had a theory that Domain.ME would resonate well with the Spanish speaking community in the US, so we took that notion and put it to the test. Everywhere Agency partnered with Domain.ME to be a sponsor at the premiere Latina entrepreneur and blogging conference, #WeAllGrow Summit in Los Angeles last March. The campaign was successful beyond our wildest dreams, proving our theory true. So true, in fact, that we won a PRSA Georgia Phoenix Award for our efforts! So let me give you a little bit of insight into what led us here.
Lina Skandalakis with the Phoenix Award
The Latina entrepreneur is an ideal audience for a domain provider like Domain.ME. After all, as of 2013, Latinas owned 1 out of 10 businesses in the United States (source: American Progress). We also know that new businesses need domains and smart businesses are starting to be creative with their choices.
In order to tell this story to the Latina entrepreneur community, we knew we had to be part of the #WeAllGrow Summit in an integrated way. We opted against having your boring conference booth with key chains & pens; instead, we hosted a bilingual lounge where attendees could stop in, recharge and receive branding advice from experts. Branding and choosing a domain name go hand in hand so we opted to attend the conference as thought leaders.
We joined forces with the fabulous and extremely well known Latina influencer and successful entrepreneur, Gaby Natale, host of her own television show, Super Latina. Gaby attended the conference as a Domain.ME ambassador, establishing her relationship with the brand from her first opening keynote where she seamlessly mentioned .ME and encouraged attendees to visit her afterward in the Domain.ME lounge. Gaby spent time in our lounge offering up one-on-one branding sessions. We had a line of businesswomen hoping to speak to this Super Latina for advice and learn more about the .ME brand.

We decked out our suite in Domain.ME red, offered up red sweet snacks and red mocktails, and spent our time making plays-on-words around all the fun phrases in Spanish that end in me to create unique .ME domain names. The list is endless, but some of our favorites included “Ninos, escuchame” (Kids, Listen to me), “Amame, besame, abrazame” (Love me, kiss me, hug me), or “Despiertame” (Wake me up”).
We used the reflexive nature of the language to create fun narratives around the suite – these cupcakes read, “Eat Me!”
I know all of this is making you super jealous and wishing you could have been at #WeAllGrow with us, sipping on red mocktails, spending time with SuperLatina Gaby Natale, and doing word plays in Spanish. Well, you can! We’ll be there again next year and it’s being held in the glam Hotel Maya in Long Beach, CA.
Kelly manned the food tables at the suite. A crowd favorite? Cranberry juice labeled “Bebeme!” or “Drink me!”
