Instagrid.Me Wish List: 3 Things I Want To See From The New Instagrid

3 min read,

Web service/gallery Instagrid.Me has shut down a while ago due to new Instagram’s web profiles that were introduced last year. Popular service which initially gave it’s users ability to browse Instagram’s pictures straight from their desktop computers is said to be working on something new, although we still haven’t had the chance to get a glimpse of what the company is developing.

We could all agree that Instagram’s web profiles are a bit limited though. Several options which are available on mobile, unfortunately aren’t on desktop and users are getting frustrated. For example, you cannot really mention a specific person on a web profile – Instagram doesn’t allow you to find a person once you start typing their name like it does on a mobile app.

Furthermore, you cannot actually share photos on social networks. It seems as if Instagram’s web profiles are another simple web gallery, nothing more. While all of us wait for the new Instagrid.Me, I’ve decided to make a wish list consisting of three things we’d like to see in a new service!

#1 – Social integration

First version of Instagrid.Me had an awesome social integration feature. I could share all of my Instagram photos on Facebook and Twitter and I really liked this because it gave me a chance to share pictures with friends who weren’t using Instagram. Even today not everybody is using it, and many people want to share their beautiful shots with others.

I hope we see something truly amazing from new Instagrid.Me. Personally, I’m rooting for a Flicker integration because this would make so much sense, and I know that I’m not the only one.

#2 – Discovering interesting profiles

Although I follow a lot of people on Instagram, I always try to find new ones whose pictures are interesting. Using the “who liked it” method, I stumble upon different people but there is a lot of hit and miss. Often the photos are really boring and after too many duck faces and peace signs, you tend to get a bit bored.

Sure, you can search via hashtag but even this is not perfect as you may think. Instagrid.Me should definitely get on top of this and create a solution which will suggest it’s users new and interesting profiles. No doubt that it would make it stand out of the bunch.

#3 – Live photo feed

Think of it as Wall of Tweets for Instagram pictures. How awesome would that be? If you are a huge fan of Instagrampictures like I am, you would probably like to look at them more often than you do now. Sure, grabbing your smartphone and opening the app is one solution but I would love to look at friend’s pictures or specific hashtag pictures live, as they are taken.

This would also be very useful for conferences, restaurants, bars, etc. Owners could simply turn on the slideshow and let the pictures roll! I’m sure people would like to see their concert shots on the wall live, as the show is happening. In my opinion, there is no reason not to do this.

There are just some of the features I’d like to see in a new Instagrid.Me. Feel free to leave comments about other ides you think this service should incorporate in their new version!
