NC.ME helped 200,000 students work on their online brand!

2 min read,

The .ME team is highly passionate about education at all levels from primary school to university to trade school to life long independent learning.

In fact, for the last ten years, we have been investing heavily in promoting STEM education and related job opportunities by organising coding schools, sponsoring a competition in robotics, working one-on-one with young tech entrepreneurs, and many other initiatives. Last year, our contribution to the Montenegrin community has been recognised with two national CSR and philanthropy awards.

We believe that an important component of educational success lies in creating websites, portfolios and blogs that showcase what you are learning and how you are applying that knowledge.

That is why, in 2014, we partnered with NameCheap on the “Namecheap University” (NC.ME) initiative and website, offering free .ME domains, and low-cost GitHub and Exposure bundles. The free product offer is available to all students, teachers, administrators and educators with a .edu email address. Since its inception, the program has helped 200,000 students create a free online portfolio, resume, blog – or virtually any other type of personal website, thus reaching a huge milestone!

the program has helped 200,000 students create a free online portfolio, resume, blog – or virtually any other type of personal website.

This is a big deal because the faster university students get online and start showing the world what they can do, the easier time they will have gaining internships, succeeding on the job market and in starting post graduation freelance careers. Our research has shown that .ME is attractive to students as it let’s future employers and clients know that they are dealing with someone tech-savvy and creative who doesn’t rely on a generic domain name – someone who is putting a lot of thought into their personal brand and the way they present themselves.

To date, the NC.ME program also been integrated into the curriculum of several high school and college computer science classes and also provides free domains and web building tools for hackathons and other technology events for students.

We are proud to partner with NC.ME and congratulate NameCheap on this important milestone! For more information on the NameCheap University initiative, please visit www.nc.me. 🙂
