LED Lights Are The Future, And Nanoleaf.Me Has The Best Ones Out There

The lightbulb has been here for quite a while, and the design hasn’t changed all that much since its inception. Still, a lot of companies are making efforts to provide better, brighter, and more efficient bulbs and lighting systems for everyone to enjoy. It seems like the future is, indeed, bright for us. Smart home systems and the omnipresent “internet of things” might be the rage these days, and is there a place for creativity both in the “classic” lighting market, as well as the smart one?
Well, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, courtesy of NanoLight, you really can see the revolution in front of your eyes. The Nanoleaf.ME company policy is to do everything as good as they can while caring for the planet and providing the customers with the best possible lighting systems you can want, both smart ones and regular ones. Their flagship product, the Nanoleaf Aurora is a marvel of design and tech, marrying astonishing visuals with great functionality.
But can you really reinvent light itself?
You probably don’t give lighting that much thought in your regular activities. You turn the lights on and move on with what you’ve been doing, but did you know that making energy saving lighting systems can really be a savior to the world? Let me explain.
Almost 20% of all produced energy in the world is used just for lighting systems. That means streetlights, the headlights of your car and the little bedside lamp you’re using to read books at night. This is a huge number. So huge, actually, that 6% of greenhouse gasses produced every year worldwide are attributed to the light we need so much to live normal lives. It’s only natural, then, that we try to think of ways to make better lighting and save more of that precious energy we use every day.

There’s been a lot of debate on whether the early energy saving bulbs (the ones with the funny shape) actually help the environment, or simply compromise in other places just to last longer. Actually, the life cycle of a regular energy-saving fluorescent bulb can be cut severely short if you’re turning it on and off often. This leaves you with less flexibility as you’re technically wasting the life of the bulb if you put it in a dark room you use often, like a bathroom.
Not That Much Of A Bright Idea
Of course, it’s not like the bulb is going to stop working in a few days, but from my own experience a fluorescent bulb used like this will last only slightly longer than a regular one, and that simply doesn’t cut it when it comes to both the price difference and the impact on the environment, considering that these bulbs have high mercury content and need to be disposed of properly.
Another bad thing is that they don’t really play nice with dimmer switches and lighting controllers, which can be a bummer if you’re used to that sort of mood lighting situation in your house, and they aren’t well-suited for outdoor use and temperature changes. All in all, it’s a compromise you need to know if you’re using them, to maximise the savings. They can save up to 500kg of CO2 through their lives if used properly, though, and you should really buy a few of these for those well-lit rooms in your house.
RGB Everything!
The real fun starts with LED lights. As of the last few years, LED’s have been in everything, from light bulbs and phone screens to gaming peripherals and headlights. There’s a reason for that, of course: they’re insanely good. Their lives are almost ten times as long as those fluorescent ones, which means that you can basically forget about them once you’ve installed, and there’s a good chance that the light fixture itself will need replacement before the bulb does.

They’re also better suited for extremely hot and cold environments, don’t care about the weather and can be turned on and off millions of times, if you so desire. They’re also good for dimmers, and bright as the sun itself if you make the mistake of looking directly at them while also emitting almost no heat. All in all, they’re the best thing you can buy to light up your home, as of 2017., of course.
Next Level Mood Lighting
LED’s are also available in tons of shapes, designs, and colors. They’re also the cornerstone of RGB lighting and can be adapted to almost any situation. That’s precisely why the good people at Nanoleaf.ME are making wonders with LED lights, in their range of future-proof classic and smart lighting systems. Their halo product, though, is the Nanoleaf Aurora, a smart, modular light panel that you place on your wall and use it to light up your rooms.
The catch is that you can actually combine a lot of Nanoleafs to create intricate designs that are all connected and talk to each other, in order to make the best possible mood lighting you could wish for. The panels can reproduce all colors, and light up an entire room in whichever way you see fit. They are also app-controlled and removable. This is how the future looks like, folks!
You can learn more about Aurora on the official website of the company, and also order a whole bunch of other bulbs and systems so that you can light up your home and care for the environment at the same time!
