MyPermissions: Check Which Websites Still Have Your Facebook and Twitter Credentials

Creating different accounts for sites is so 2011, don’t you agree? š Jokes aside, it’s a fact that with different social network integration systems you don’t need to create an account for anything anymore. Connect with Facebook, Connect with Twitter, Google… those are just some of the ways you can log into a web service.
After you log in, that service or an application still has access (more or less limited) to your Facebook or Twitter profile. Some of them are probably connected with your LinkedIn profile or your Dropbox. Do you keep track of all permissions you’ve granted to 3rd party apps that wander around your social life? Well, you should.
Manage Permissions Easily
MyPermissions is a site which will help you take control of your permissions. It’s really simple; it has eight icons for Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo!, LinkedIn, Dropbox, Instagram and Flickr with direct links to specific privacy/app/permission setting of each of these sites.

The best way to use it would be as a logged-in user. MyPermissions will then act as an online privacy bookmark site; all you have to do is click the link and clean up your permissions.
Keep It Simple, Keep It Clean
Of course, you use different apps every day – it doesn’t mean you have to clean up your profiles so often (you can if you want to). Knowing people are forgettable by nature, MyPermissions recommends that you create a monthly notification in your calendar for cleaning up. Or, if you’re more geeky and hacky, you can combine IFTTT with MyPermissions to get a monthly email reminder toĀ clean up your profile.

Your first clean-up might be a little… well, surprising. There will be a lot of apps you don’t evenĀ remember using. Personally, I use a lot of sites with my Facebook login, but there are some I haven’t used in a while. So, why would I keep them in my list, allowing them to get my information when they feel like it? With MyPermissions, now you can relax about that, get monthly reminders to clean up and what’s the best of all, you don’t have to keepĀ rememberingĀ which login site you used or where are the privacy settings. Plus, it’s completely free!
It’s so nice to see these small, free, but incredibly useful projects on the Web. It’s the projects like this that don’t get too much (online) media attention, but they should.
How many apps you’ve found in your Facebook profile? Do you know for any other small projects like this?
