Every single long scrolling session of mine ends the same way. I get hungry. Two reasons for that. First of all, I am a foodie, and my algorithm knows it, so it keeps bombarding me with interesting recipes.
Secondly, and most importantly, when I see a photo of a beautifully looking dish, I can’t help but crave it.
So, when I started looking at what Mumzi was doing at https://yourfoodstylist.me/, I made myself a solemn promise.
“You will not succumb. You will resist. This time, you will be strong”.
Ten minutes in and, you’ve guessed it, I was trying out his oatmeal cookies recipe.
From Serving Tables to Serving Beauty
It seems that this creative cook was right. Some people really do eat with their eyes. Yes, I am “some people”.
But, back to Mumzi.
Anyway, this .MEr’s journey began in a five-star restaurant in Louisiana. Pretty big right from the start, right? Well, yes. But, not the way you think.
You see, this food stylist was waiting tables in a Louisiana five-star restaurant, getting himself through Business School.
It was not long after he joined this team, though, that he realized one thing. The fun was in the kitchen.
Instead of bringing the beautiful dishes to the tables, he wanted to be the one preparing them. He wanted to be the one serving beauty.
So, watching other chefs in action inspired him to make a career change of his own. He moved to Los Angeles and joined the “Cordon Bleu” culinary school. Always ready to broaden his knowledge, he also studied Food Styling at Leiths School of Food and Wine in London.
And the rest is history.
Making Food Pretty, One Dish at a Time
Fast forward to 2024, and you find this food stylist living his dream. Serving beauty instead of serving tables. His cooking, food styling, food photography and business education turned this .MEr into a successful food stylist and entrepreneur.
Talented and armed with knowledge, he grabbed the right education opportunities and had a lot of career doors opened for him. Working on movie sets, catering, creating menus, joining the world of food photography… There is not much he can’t do.
Today, he is making food pretty, one dish at a time!
From breakfast and sandwich platters, to desserts and drinks…He styles it all.
