Meow.me – Extra Cute Random Pairing Chat

Getting to know somebody new isn’t a hard task today. You can do it old school and go out  by yourself, or have your friends introduce you to somebody. Alternatively, you can go with the (already inadequate definition of) new media and throw yourself at the mercy of different social networks, blogs, apps and so on. But usually they are aimed at your existing circle of friends. But there is big part of the cake that is ignored, and Meow.Me is there to sink its teeth into it.

Random Chat With Social Twist

Maybe it is the best to ignore the previous “sinking the teeth in” metaphor. It makes this app sound like it is very intimidating, when in truth it is quite contrary. Meow.Me is for all the candy lovers, because its main weapon is cuteness, and if you know a tad bit of Japanese, you will squeal “Kawaii!”. Available for iPhone and Android phones, its purpose is to match you with a random person to chat, kind of like a famous Chatroulette, but with a social twist.

You will always be paired up randomly, but you canalso  turn on the locator on your device to be paired with somebody who is in your relative vicinity. This is great if you hit it off and want to turn your virtual chat into a casual drink or a coffee date. The afore mentioned social twist is, that you can create your own profile and fill it with different information. You can view other profiles and follow your friends and their feed by going on their profile and Favoriting (Fave) them. Taking this even further, you can connect it with your other social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.

(Non)Local and Vocal

In a way, Meow.Me can be used as a pen pal service. It has over one million users all over the world, so the odds that you will meet somebody from across the globeare quite high. Choosing your chat buddy is easy. App automatically and randomly pairs you up with somebody, and you can chat, or skip and be paired somebody else. If somebody is harassing you, you can block and report them. Recently, the app added the voice chat, so if you are not in the mood to type, chat became even easier.

All in all, Meow.Me is one of the cutest and nicest designed chat applications that we’ve encountered. Like any other social driven app, half of its appeal is in the app itself, and other half is the quality of users. So far, the Meow.me team has done an excellent job with the design, so if you want to meet somebody new, download the app, enjoy extra cute cats, and chat away!
