Meet Hynek Zemanec: A Web Developer With A Knack For Photography

5 min read,

Have you ever wished to take a peek into the brain of a web developer? To gain a deeper insight into their train of thought? To discover some hidden layers of their personality? Or to see whether their mind is strictly analytical or if there’s some room left for creativity?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes – then you’ve come to the right place.

Hynek Zemanec is our very own .MEr who happens to be a successful web developer, data analyst, and an avid photographer at the same time!

Let’s meet him!

Who Is Hynek Zemanec?

Hynek Zemanec is a young and gifted web developer from Prague, Czech Republic. Currently, he is located in Vienna, Austria, where he is working on a number of exciting projects.

Hynek likes to say that he is in charge of “building internet Lego”.

This web developer likes to say that he is in charge of “building internet Lego”. What an interesting (and so very right to the point) way of looking at this profession. Every website or website app is made using programming languages – the three basic ones being HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Those languages actually represent building blocks behind every frontend and backend structure. And a web developer is someone who creates and arranges those blocks in an effort to create outstanding, interactive, attention-grabbing, and user-friendly websites. Seeing that developers tend to be very creative and playful, it really does resemble a Lego building game.

What’s more, Hynek decided to dip his toes into copywriting. He realized that the benefits of writing down what you do, especially parts you struggle with, are twofold. Firstly, you might help others address a similar issue or inspire them to adjust their approach to a task at hand. Secondly, you truly understand something once you are able to explain it. According to Hynek “the best way to learn anything is to try to teach it to others”.

He welcomes both praise and criticism with open arms and sees them as opportunities to better himself. And that’s what being a web developer actually is – constantly finding ways to improve your work and outsmart yourself

What Do You Need To Become A Great Web Developer?

It goes without saying that, in order to become a web developer, you need to have a proper education. You can either choose to receive a formal education or opt for taking a more informal path. Whatever works best for you.

Hynek, for instance, has a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Informatics and a Master’s degree in Computer Science (Media Informatics). This type of knowledge gives him a deeper understanding of many web development concepts he uses in his daily work. In addition, such education brings significant advantages in the competitive marketplace.

But this web developer didn’t stop there. He also took time to learn an astonishing number of technical skills. These include data analytics, software engineering, front-end, back-end, HTML, CSS, XML, database, and DevOps skills. More precisely, Hynek is fluent in TypeScript, NextJS, React, Vue, GSAP, WebGL, NodeJS, Python, HTML 5, Bootstrap and so many more.

If you thought that programming languages are the only languages Hynek knows, you’d be mistaken. Besides Czech, which is his mother tongue, Hynek speaks English and German as well. This enables him to offer his services globally and significantly increase his client pool.

However, the real difference between a great web developer and an average one lies in specific personality traits. A great web developer has to have an inquisitive and analytical mind. To be proactive and willing to dig really deep in order to solve a problem. To be eager to learn and constantly upgrade his or her set of skills. But also, to be imaginative and creative. And, ultimately, to use every mistake (and there will be plenty of those, trust us) as an opportunity to grow as a developer.

What Has This Amazing Web Developer Been Working On So Far?

Seeing that he’s been a freelancer for over 6 years, Hynek has plenty of interesting projects under his belt.

One of his beginner projects is actually an adventure game inspired by Star Wars, his favorite movie ever.

One of his beginner projects is actually an adventure game inspired by Star Wars, his favorite movie ever. It’s a terminal text game written in Java and called Star Wars: The Last Battle. Hynstagram (pun intended) is a CRUD app – a fun forum based only on images that allows registered users to vote. COVID-19 Visualization Dashboard is an interactive dashboard used to represent the latest data on the illness.

Hynek has also managed to create a highly practical e-commerce solution developed with the help of Microservice architecture. He aims to create such solutions that will help businesses reach their goals.

Zemanec has also spent around two years working as a front-end web developer for FG Forest. During his time there, he was mainly focused on developing his front-end and analytical skills.
