.ME Domain Interviews Tango.ME
With the technology moving at the faster pace than ever it seems that we will pretty soon hit the point when mobile overtakes the web. Having this in mind, we are very excited to see is that there is increasing number of apps launched on .ME domain names. “Join.ME” is a popular screen-sharing app, which has been in stores for some time and “News.ME” for Ipad was launched just couple of days ago.
Another very promising app is Tango.ME. It is a free mobile voice and video calling service for 70+ Android and iOS devices that works over 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi. Founded by Uri Raz (cofounder and CEO) and Eric Setton (cofounder and CTO) Tango was founded in 2009 and currently more than 12 million people are using Tango in 190 countries to make free calls to their family and friends. DotME has recently contacted Tango to find out a bit more about the company and their latest achievements.
.ME: When did Tango.ME originally launch and when was it made available outside the USA?
Tango: We officially launched Sept. 30, 2010 and made Tango available globally through the Android Market and Apple App Store.
.ME: What is your mission statement?
Tango: Our vision is to connect people around the world through video calling with friends and family from wherever they are, on any screen. We would like to transform the way people communicate every day, stay connected, and share special moments as they happen. Tango empowers people to share what they see and to have fun with video calling whether at home or on-the-go.
.ME: In addition to video call for Android, what are other advantages of Tango.ME app?
Tango: We offer free voice calling and free video calling on more than 70 Android and iOS phones and devices. We are the only company that offers video calling on all of the latest devices with two cameras including the HTC Thunderbolt, Motorola Xoom and Atrix, the iPad 2, and more.
.ME: Why did you choose a .ME domain name?
Tango: We want Tango to become a verb, and for people to Tango Me. The domain just fit.
.ME: How much is personal message and social network presence important for you, and how does .ME domain help?
Tango: The domain is very catchy. When you give someone your email address, it’s very easy to remember and it really fits our brand.
.ME: Tango.ME has recently won in the entertainment category of the prestigious SXSW event. How do you feel about that?
Tango: Being up against many great companies, we were incredibly excited to win the SXSW Accelerator competition. That was Tango’s first competition and we nailed it. We hope to compete in many more in the future and become the leading player for mobile video calling.
