McKayla Wasn’t Impressed – With Becoming an Internet Meme!

The Olympics in London are officially over. Now is the time to analyze everything there, who the winners are and what exactly have they done to deserve such a status.
Being geeks, we just want congratulate to all of the athletes at the 2012 Olympics – great job and sportsmanship! However, there’s one athlete we like the best, although, we’re pretty sure she’s not impressed by us that much. I mean, she wasn’t impressed with a silver medal as well, so our feelings aren’t hurt 🙂
She May Not Be Impressed…
We’re referring to McKayla Rose Maroney, a 16 year old American artistic gymnast who is a member of the gold medal-winning US Women’s Gymnastics team and a Olympic Valut Silver Medalist. That silver medal she won at 2012 Olympics is the thing with which she didn’t just win at the Olympics. She definitely also won the “Internet Olympics”!
OK, as far as we know, there isn’t such thing as the ‘Internet Olympics’ – but we could give a medal to everyone who becomes an Internet meme and handles that with style, just like McKayla did. Her ‘not impressed’ face became a popular Internet gag, and while some people would object to being a meme, McKayla went with the flow. She even took a photo of herself with two best friends, showing to the world what she really thinks about it. You can guess, she’s not impressed 😉

…But We Are!
There’s even a Tumblr blog McKayla is not impressed filled with a bunch of photoshopped images in which McKayla stands with her ‘not impressed’ face. Noah wrote her 365 letters – but she’s not impressed! And it’s not a big surprise either, McKayla isn’t an Internet n00b, but an experienced geek; you can follow her on Twitter and Instagram and even check out her Know Your Meme summary.

To all the ‘celebrities’ and everyone else who might become an Internet meme – keep it cool. It’s just a joke, people, and as it is with every joke, it will move on and be forgotten. So instead of trying to force it out of the Internet, learn to take a joke like a sir – you’ll win the Internet!
And just maybe – you’ll end up on David Letterman’s show:
