Majica.me: Design, Buy and Sell Your Design

Editor’s note: Since writing this article, Majica.Me has ceased to operate. This post remains as part of their legacy. However, you can read our story about a similar .MEr here.
There was a certain point in my life, when I was crazy about custom design shirts. However, looking around, I could only find pre-made and already set designs, available only in big quantities . After some time this craze faded away, but the idea of designing my own clothes (or anything else for that matter) stayed, so there was a certain amount of glee when I found out about about Majica.me.
This is a site where you can put your own logo/icon/picture on the shirt and then buy it for a certain price or leave it on the site for others to marvel and purchase. You can even buy it as a gift for someone else. On the site it says that you should contact them, and together you’ll make it happen. Their minimum number of purchased shirts is one.
Design Your Own Shirt
Best part of designing your own shirt is that you get percentage of every sold piece you designed. If you want to design rather than buy somebody’s designs, registration is mandatory, but simple. However, there are some limitations to your design. It can be max 30×38 cm (vertical or horizontal) with minimum 150 dpi, optimum 300 dpi. Design should be in some of the following formats: .psd, .ai, .eps, .png. They recommend .psd or .png with transparent background layer.
Having designed your image, you set where you want to place it on the shirt and can add the same or different reprint on your sleeve or the back. In the end you can choose what color, size and type of shirt you want. Prints are made on the Fruit of the Loom or Russel shirts. If you want/need some other type of shirt, they are open to the possiblity of getting it for you, or you can provide it yourself.
Combinations and Prices
Prices aren’t unified, just like the sizes. You can combine from white to dark colors, in male and female, from short to long sleeves. Depending of your combination it can cost you from 8€ to 14€. Additionally, you can add a big reprint on the back of your shirt for 4.50€/3.50€ and a small reprint on your back or sleeve for 3€/2€. Higher/lower pricing depends on your shirt being white or in color.
Unfortunately, just like the site that is only in Montenegrin, delivery is possible only in Montenegro and that is one and only minus that I could find. In Podgorica, delivery will be free and within 24 hours on a working day. The rest of the country will have to wait a bit longer and pay additional 2€ per package for mail delivery. You can get a discount for buying in bulk, but you’ll have to contact them to get more info.
All in all, Majica.me is an interesting site that took me on a memory trip back to the days when I was imagining a wardrobe full of my own designs. But even today I wish I had some pieces that would show my affections for certain things, like Doctor Who or Firefly. Sadly, those items aren’t available where I live, which is precisely where such a site is extremely helpful!
