JetPack.Me Launches (Into The Blogosphere) With New Design And Features

We’re big fans and enthusiastic users of WordPress here. We use it on our own awesome blog (even if we do say so ourselves) and use some of its many cool plugins to make the reading experience cooler for you and to make all our work behind the scenes more easier for ourselves. One of our top ten favorite plugins is the Jetpack.Me, which just had a major makeover and threw in a bunch of great features we’d like to share with all you bloggers.
The slick minimalistic new logo it’s that the new 3.1 release is sporting is a part of the great big rebranding scheme, as JetPavk’s Enej Bajgoric explains:
Jetpack is ever-evolving and is a major part of Automattic and WordPress. It’s grown a lot since its introduction in 2011, and its branding should grow too. Something better, faster, stronger.
More Than A Blog Plugin. So Much More.
WordPress has been known as the „blog“ platform, bit since its takeoff int he blogosphere it has grown to become much more and offer a wide variety of options and can be made into most any type of web page. Jetpack’s new update is helping widen the range of options available to those not highly code-savy.
Some of the great new features (some of many to come) include custom post types and the portfolio content type, allowing users to manage and showcase projects and is easily displayed using the [portfolio] shortcode.
There is also a handy new responsive video support for theme developers, for those and a JSON API endpoints for viewing updates and managing plugins and themes, as well as a spanking new bulk module management in 3.0, with a number of tweaks allowing you to activate, configure, and deactivate Jetpack features in the feature description box.
Some of the smaller updates and new features include:.
• Better keyboard accessibility for JetPack Settings
• Improved RTL support for After the Deadline, Carousel, Contact Form, Comics CPT, Custom CSS, Omnisearch, Publicize, Related Posts, Slideshow short code, Tiled Gallery, Widget-Visibility and Widgets Gallery.
• Contact Form: Add an “Empty Spam” option.
• i18n: Change the priority of where plugin_textdomain is hooked so that the plugins can better translate Jetpack.
• Monitor: Displays how often the site is checked for downtime.
• Shortcode: Added Mixcloud shortcode and oEmbed support.
• Social Links: Improved handling of customizer hooks in non-admin context.
• Stats: The smiley image is gone by default.
• Stats: Added link to the configure page for stats so that the stats settings page is easier to find.
• Theme Tools: Added the responsive videos to theme tools so that themes can support responsive videos more easily.
• Updated Genericons to version 3.1, new icons for website, ellipsis, foursquare, x-post, sitemap, hierarchy and paintbrush.
