Forget About Business Cards, Just Flash About.Me’s Intro!

4 min read,

When it comes to business cards, I personally have one movie scene in mind that pops up almost every time  you mention them. It includes one literary template, one Christian Bale and a title that has two words: American and Psycho. However, what are we going to talk about here won’t take a violent turn, we promise. On the contrary, it will make your life easier, just like About.me did. You do  have a profile there, right? Well, you might want to create one.

Business of Business Cards

Not convinced? Maybe you will be after we introduce Intro, freshly released spin-off standalone app that will rock your world of exchanging digital business cards. For now, it is only available in iTunes, but the creators are saying that the Android version is coming soon. Imagine you are at an event and you want to exchange contact information with someone. Now what? Send them empty e-mail or text? Swap phones and enter your information? Try to find a pen and a paper?

Very often, you do not have your physical business card with you, but nowadays, everybody has their smartphones or some other device. Digital business cards will not only save you some space or trouble of finding them alter but they are eco-friendly too. Also, unlike physical cards, you will never run out of digital ones. This is one of those ideas that you go and say to yourself: why the heck I haven’t thought of this?

What Does It Do?

To start the app, you simply need to log in with your About.me or Facebook account and then add your email address, phone number and About.me page. If you log in with About.me, it will create a card with your photo and existing biography. Simple and straightforward. However, the best feature comes to light when you want to share the information. You are in total control of what information you want to share. You can either send all of the previously mentioned information, or you can choose to send just one contact detail, or any combination you want. It is up to you to choose.

Also, the recipient of your digital business card does not have to have Intro. That is a great advantage over any kind of social network that requires that the both communicating parties have  a profile on their network. You can send your contact detail via text message or email. Intro will keep track of the people you’ve shared your card with and it will keep track of the cards you’ve received. Then you can contact anyone directly through the app, save their information to your smartphone’s contacts app, or click and learn more about them by visiting their About.me profile.

Information in Context

Another small, but great, detail is that the app will display the date and location of when and where the introduction was made. It will help you to place everything in context, which is great because we all have those days when we are not at our best and some information falls through the cracks. Even more important, it will put a name to a face. It may seem like a weird feature for a business card to have a picure, but it is a great advancement, especially at conferences when you meet a bunch of new people.

Elegant in design, simple to use and friendly to any kind of device, there is no negative side to Intro. It will provide you context of your introduction so it can potentially revolutionise the way we exchange our business cards and information. So what are you waiting for? Take it while it’s still fresh out of the oven!
