[INFOGRAPHIC] Perspective on TLDs: Business Opportunities and Consumers’ Trust

We wrote about how domain name is more than a simple address for your company’s website. If you think strategically, your domain name can also positively impact the growth of your business. Now we are putting data behind our claims.
People’s interest in TLDs such as .ME justifiably comes from the possibility to create natural call-to-action messages in your URL, such as about.me, follow.me or join.me, and to obtain short and memorable domain names. If you add the fact a business’s domain name greatly influences the image people get about the business itself, you can understand why the world has over 288 million TLD registrations.
While there are those that are still skeptic about choosing anything but traditional TLDs, research shows that:
– 85% of Internet users type a domain name into a browser address bar at least sometimes, which means that a short and memorable website address presents a real advantage.
– 51% of web users are “extremely, very or somewhat comfortable with visiting websites with a new TLD”. If we compare how long have traditional TLDs have been in use compared to the new ones, that is already a feat! Also, traditional TLDs are mostly all reserved or very expensive.
This is something startups recognize, which is why one of the most popular domain name extension among startups is .ME! But not to reveal everything right away, take a look at the infographic we made and see for yourself!
