GG.Me: An #EpicWin eSports Tournament That Raised Money For Kids’ Hospitals!

4 min read,

There is always a certain dose of pride and joy after sponsoring or participating in a great event. It’s like some sort of drug that keeps you happy for days after something great ends, before the period of planning the next one comes. That’s exactly how we’re feeling after being proud sponsors of Good Game – the largest charity gaming tournament in Southeastern Europe. The tournament was held on the March 19th, and it was absolutely unbelievable.

With the help of the leading tech companies in the country, Good Game managed to raise over 40,000 Kunas ($6000) for equipping children’s hospitals and hospital wards in Croatia with PlayStation consoles in orde to make children’s stay in hospitals a little bit easier. The charity element is something every team pointed out as their imperative, and based on the overwhelmingly positive response from the teams, the spectators and the whole staff included, it’s safe to say that the tournament will continue to grow.

Fantastic Plays – Fantastic People

The teams who participated were: Infobip, Toptal, Envy, Nanobit, Bellabeat, CloudSense, Trikoder, Farmeron, Web.Burza, Rimac Automobili, Diverto, Erste bank, BambooLab, Infinum, In2 and team Exclusive, which consisted of joined forces of Hcl.hr and Netokracija.

Set in the beautiful Hub385 in Zagreb, Croatia, the tournament included over 300 people overall. The game of choice was Counter Strike: Global Offensive, by far the most popular eSports title in the world. The teams showed remarkable skill and a desire to win, and the trophy was won by the Rimac Automobili team (known for their electric supercars), with Envy coming in second. Third place was reserved for Infinum, and the fourth place finish went to CloudSense.

In the end, Rimac had trigger fingers as fast as their recently released Concept 5 Supercar!

CS:GO Pros Are All Around Us

The matches were indeed thrilling, with an equal dose of amusing mistakes by less experienced players and awesome plays by the more experienced ones. In the end, Rimac Automobili team showed quite an envious amount of skill, winning all but one match by quite a large margin. Starting with a close victory against Diverto, the next match against Farmeron was pretty one-sided. The same trend continued into the finals, with large victories against Infinum in the semifinal and Envy in the final.

That really tells us that there are people who are extremely good at Counter Strike everywhere, and apparently some of them are working in a company near you! Of course, it also goes to show that GG.Me is the ideal opportunity for great players that aren’t playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive professionally to win trophies and help children at the same time.

There’s More To It Than Just Games…

A world-class tournament isn’t one just because of great gaming and awesome plays by the pros, just like Good Game isn’t special just because it’s the first (and only) one of its kind. Aside from the gaming part, we had a chance to enjoy much more than great games. HTC Croatia was extremely kind to showcase one of the best VR experiences available – the Vive. An experience so immersive you can’t believe your eyes, it really blew the minds of spectators and competitors alike.

Samsung also showed us their own VR headset, powered by Oculus, which also created completely new worlds for us to explore. We shouldn’t forget MSGW and their assortment of powerful gaming computers and even a drone showcase for everyone to enjoy.

All in all, the tournament was a huge success, and the victory of Rimac Automobili was somewhat unexpected but earned through hard work and dedication. The entire tournament was characterized by an extremely positive atmosphere, with stand-up comedy acts and a great host and crowd. We shouldn’t forget the army of volunteers and the great people from Gaming Battleground and EXP Gaming Croatia for making the stream possible, and for keeping all of the computers in check so everything goes as smooth as possible.

GG…Me!

And lastly, considering that Good Game is actually a .ME site, we are extremely proud to be a part of this initiative, and to provide the domain that fits this event the best.

Even though photographs don’t actually portrait the atmosphere the best, (you had to be there…), here’s some more event photos so you can enjoy the great views through the extremely talented eye of our photographers. See you on the next Good Game, rumour is that it’s just around the corner (like a sniper in CS:Go).
