Teaching Kids Math The Fun Way: Spark.Me 2015 Winner Coprix Media

5 min read,

For most people, school is a pleasant experience when they look back on it, but it’s really not that romantic while you’re actually going to school. This is, after all, the 21st century, and considering that there are smartphones and smart technology practically everywhere, we should also aim to make children’s lives easier in the first few years of school. That’s exactly what COPRIX media does, and their brilliant ideas and devotion brought them first place at the Spark.Me Startup Competition in 2015.

COPRIX media’s intent is to provide the teachers and schools with means to step their teaching game up with the usage of the latest technology available. They also wants to provide the children with a more fun and relaxed way of learning, without the hassle of “old-school” schooling. That means easier lives for professors and teachers, and more fun for kids while they learn things that will be extremely important in their lives, like numbers and letters.

Numbers And Letters Reinvented

COPRIX has developed numerous products that allow the classroom to become a high-tech room full of possibilities for the digital generation of children. Children are provided with tablet computers and are encouraged to use the slates for drawing, writing, and interaction with the apps that are preinstalled by COPRIX. The apps range from mathematics apps to language learning apps, all developed with one goal: making learning more intuitive and fun.

The first app that we’re going to talk about is InterActive ABC Book. It’s the world’s most innovative and fun native language learning system for preschool and primary school children. It’s an award-winning app that aims to provide the kids with scientifically-based knowledge of the language, while also being very fun and intuitive. It uses systems like touch input that are widely available to make letters more memorable, and allowing kids to draw letters on the screen is amusing and really helps remember the alphabet and nudge those young brains into high gear.

The app has been approved for testing by the Serbian Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and is finding its way into schools across the country. We just hope that the app is received well mostly by the kids and that it will soon become the go-to app for the first few grades of school in more countries than just Serbia.

Fun And Math? How’s That Even Possible?

The second app the company has developed is called InterActive Mathematics. It’s, well, an app that is based on mathematics and making them more accessible to kids from a young age. We all know that while some kids are extremely good at math, some (like me) just can’t seem to get it. It’s a pretty biased science to begin with, you either love it or not, but COPRIX media made an app that makes everyone enjoy math.

That’s a pretty bold statement, but when you find out that it involves elements of video games and real-world physics, you can start to understand why every child enjoys it more than “regular” math. The app uses great technology to make the abstract mathematical concepts appear in visual shapes and thus makes it easier to understand why math works the way it does. Perhaps using this app helps shift the balance towards math in schools? We’ll know soon enough, as the app is already in its testing phase, and is funded by the World Bank.

COPRIX media brought their smart and innovative apps to Spark.Me in 2015 and won the competition. They got the chance to travel to San Francisco for the TechCrunch Disrupt where they had the opportunity to showcase their vision of the future of education in the famous Startup Alley. They will, without doubt, use the knowledge they found there to improve their app, and with it, the entire school system, first in Serbia and then in the entire world.

The quest for making children learn easier is just only beginning, and with COPRIX making awesome apps that let kids play and learn at the same time, we can be sure that more and more kids will step into adulthood with more knowledge that they got in a fun and amusing way. There’s also the bonus of being able to track every child’s progress, so teachers can find out which kids need a little more attention. We wish all the best to COPRIX and are happy that they are helping kids learn better.
