ConcertWith.Me: Never Miss an Upcoming Concert – from Artists You Love

It’s like 500 Startups heard my wish and granted it to me. Last week, the San Francisco-based acceleration fund announced its 14th batch of startups, including the apply named ConcertWith.Me, a great app that warns you about concerts in your area that you’ll love, based on your music taste (which it gets from a variety of sources including Spotify, Deezer, Facebook and Last.fm) as well as your friend’s interest in them!
Founded by Vit Myshlaev and Anatoliy Polikarpov from Ryazan in Russia, ConcertWith.Me took its own little tour going from Russia to Cyprus, then France and finally setting in 500 Startups’ Mountain View headquarters based in, obviously, Silicon Valley.
ConnectWith… Concerts In Your City
The app is actually very simple and boils down to a one-page web app homepage where ConcertWith.Me lists upcoming concerts, giving you the most important available information: The artists performing, the date of the event, the location, as well as tickets for it available across a number of services as well as ticket marketplaces.
While you can always use a local music website that probably lists concerts in your area, ConcertWith.Me stands out with a great interface that is easy to browse – personalised to your needs.
Set It and Forget It… But Not Concerts
Because ConcertWith.Me is based on outside services that keep up with the music you listen to, its list of upcoming concerts and festivals is always tailored to your taste. It connects to a dozen services, including social networks (Facebook, Twitter, VK), music services (Spotify, Deezer, Rdio, Rhapsody, BeatsMusic, SoundCloud) as well as the world’s favourite music tracking website – Last.fm.
Adding any of the services is quite easy and you’ll just be asked to let Connect With.Me “grab” the artists from the ones you choose. When you do, the service will list the number of artists it managed to find. In my own example, it found 18 artists on Facebook and 66 on Last.fm and Spotify.
After you add a service, you’ll be asked to vet the list, because you might not want to go to a concert of someone whose song you shared once on Facebook, because your friend posted it first. While Spotify should be more precise, you can vet the music service’s list as well.
While ConcertWith.Me will always keep up to date with the artists on the services you imported as I mentioned, you also have the option to re-import or undo import each of the services from their settings. At the end of the day: you might not want to go to an artists’ concert because although you love their music, they might be really, really, really bad live!
Concerts: Taste, Time, Location…
After importing your music taste, ConcertWith.Me will base the upcoming concerts lists on the homepage both on that criteria as well as your location which it gets through Facebook or Twitter. By default, ConcertWith.Me will show all festivals and concerts in your location at any time in the future.
Clicking on any of the criteria opens up the preferences where you can work out the details. Specifically if you want to just see events that feature your favourite artists or the ones that your friends are going to. If there are a lot of events in your upcoming events, you can choose just one of the months that interest you, or hand pick a genre you want to follow.
ConcertWith.Me is definitely the best way to follow and discover upcoming concerts and festival currently on the web, far superior both to large services with too many features (that don’t really) work, as well as music news websites that end up being out of date.
