Compath.Me Wants to Introduce Some Waka Waka to Your Life: Explore Tokyo, New York and Paris

Just to make things clear, Waka Waka means adventure! Compath.Me is a Japanese startup which aims to serve as a compas to your life, as its founder Hiromichi Ando poetically put it some years ago, in his pitch for Le Web. It is a web platform as well as an app which connects your interests with your current location to help you discover the world around you, like popular spots, restaurants, shops, events, and items nearby.

How Does It Work?

Despite its big goal of guiding you through your life, it is quite simple to use, really. You can find places you want to visit on featured pages, entries of other users and your friends own memos, and then make a memo of your own, reminding yourself to try put this or that shop or restaurant. It is done with just one click or touch of the screen and you can access your memos anytime, any place, from your iPhone or desktop.

The memos from your web based platform and mobile phone are synced and shared with friends, so you can help them discover cool places too. All the locations you visit are geo tagged on the map, allowing you to easily review them and share them with other users. Basically, if you’re farmiliar with Foursquare, using Compath.Me will be a no-brainer.

For now, you can use this app to explore and fine great venues in Tokyo, Paris and New York.

Getting Started

Go to Compath.Me website or download the app. You will need to login via Facebook or sign up with your email. The next step is creating your profile, uploading your picture and filling in some details (not a loto f detail, though).  After that, find people to follow- you can easily find your friends, and if your friends aren’t using Compath.Me just yet, you can follow other users who love to discover cool venues.

There is also the „Explore option“ which allows you to discover the best spot sin Paris, Tokyo or New York, as seen through the eyes and cameras of all the Compath.Me users. When you find a place you want to visit, create a Memo so you don’t forget to stop by when you are in the vicinity.

There is also the Compath Card Case, which you can use to accumulate points and get certain benefits.

The Compath.Me Team

The founder and CEO oft his startup is Hiromichi Ando, who is also in charge with business development. His co-founder is Shoko Sakurai, who is the CTO and handles iPhone and backend development. Mac Funamizu is the lead CI, UI and UX designer and Shunsuke Ota works as a senior development.

This young crew pitched their startup idea in 2011. at the Le Web conference, where they reached the finals, Compath.Me for iPhone was anounced one od Asia’s Top 50 Apps and they were showcased at Tech Cocktail’s SXSW Startup Life Celebration in 2012. They are working hard on their product and we wish them all the luck and look forward to seeing their success streak continue!
