What Does A Digital Marketplace For Code Look Like?

4 min read,

Coding is one of the buzzwords of today. If you have even the weakest connection to the Internet, you will at some point stumble upon it. If you are more into it, you either have a need for a chunk of code for something, or you are playing Dr.Codestein and creating them. Either way, sometimes it is hard to know where to sell or buy that kind of digital goods. But fear not, help is coming from mother Russia. Got the right code? Get it at CodeApp.Me

Buy, buy, buy! Sell, sell, sell!

CodeApp is a digital marketplace where you can purchase and sell digital files. In this case, you will have original apps and clones of the more popular apps. Items are priced between $1 and $100. They review complexity, quality, and overall appeal when determining the specific value assigned to the specific code. As the author, you can choose to sell exclusively or non-exclusively. In the first case your income may be 60-80% of the selling price. If you are choosing to sell the same content you are selling on another marketplace or on your own site, then you fall into the non-exclusive group. Non-exclusive authors receive 33% of each sale.

You can buy items by depositing cash. Once you have money in your account, just click the Purchase button in the top-right of any item description page. You’ll be taken from there to a file-download dialog. Download your purchased items at any time by going to your Account and then Downloads page. If you are an author you can use the marketplace to make 60%-80% on every item sold. For an extra bonus, if you refer new users you will receive a 30% of their first cash deposit. Maybe a little bit of old-fashioned incentive, but hey, $200 deposit referral, means you get $60!

How To Use It

Most popular license, the Regular License allows use of the item in one single end product, which end users are not charged to access or use. You can do this directly or, if you’re a freelancer, you can create the end product for one client to distribute it free to its end users. You can charge your client to produce the single end product. On the other hand, Extended License allows use of the item in one single end product, which you or one client may sell to end users (charge end users to access or use the end product). In both cases, distribution of source files is not permitted.

When it comes to end users, there is a little thing called copyright and it dictates how you can use your purchased files. It does not grant to you any ownership or interest in any content, code, data or materials you may access on the site, or any intellectual property rights subsisting. You may download a single copy of any content contained on the Sites, solely for your personal, non-commercial use, consistent with terms of use. If you violate copyright and other laws of Russia (where CodeApp originates) or other countries, as well as applicable state laws, you may be subject to liability for such unauthorised use. So, yeah, reselling is not an option.

Although we’re not sure why would anyone use clones of free, popular and easy to use apps like Vine or Snapchat, there are other apps that are useful, or just plain nostalgic like GOGO bird. No, that is not some weird striptease avian app, but rather a clone of now infamously unavailable bird that is oh so very flappy. For now there are 29 items on the CodeApp.me marketplace, but don’t worry, more are coming!
