Balkanstartups.Me: Startup Community For The Balkans Just Around The Corner

So, you have your startup. You have met a few other kindred spirits who are also in the startup business. It happens that you are from the Balkans and you want to stay in touch. That is where Balkanstartups.Me will come in handy.
Idea behind the project was born at Startup Camp in Rijeka in May 2013. Teddy Pejoski from G6 team, Ivan Jelušić from ManageHr and Dario Filipaj from cQuest team are the brains that are responsible for the creation of the website.
Creation of an idea
Ivan explained why they created Balkan Startups:
It all started half past midnight. We were in our hostel room in Rijeka, doing our regular after midnight stuff. Three of us were talking about how we are going to stay in touch with each other and our startup projects. Whole idea came up very quickly and coding was about to start. Few hours later the landing page of Balkanstartups.Me was up.
The page was created so that startups and everyone interested in the startup scene could track development of different projects. Balkanstartups.Me will be equipped with microblogging tool so that everybody can create their content, share and collaborate on ideas, while keeping the community informed about their progress. There will be profile for every startup and their members.
Teddy further mentioned that they are also planning to implement information about events and happenings in the Balkans concerning startup scene, so startups could be linked to a specific event. It will allow mentors and inventors to find and keep track of what is happening with their projects.
Next big startup scene
Teddy also stated:
I believe the Balkan region truly has the potential to be the next big startup scene. If we talk about Silicon Valley, it is all about the connection between people, the early adoption of new technologies and helping each-other out. I feel and it is obvious that the Balkan region has that same potential. It is (still) full of great and creative minds willing to help each-other and there is plenty of love and positive energy to go around.
Considering that idea for Balkanstartups.Me did not even exist roughly two weeks prior to the publishing of this article, its founders are saying that the page will be up and running in a matter of days. For the conclusion I will leave you with few words from Dario:
In future, we see this project as leader crow-founding place for startups in Balkans. In couple of days this site will be fully functional. Hope to see some great stuff coming.
