About.me for the iPhone Wants to Be the Ultimate Location-Based Professional Profile Finder

Remember About.me? Sure you do, because you created a profile for yourself on it. Well, About.me just released their official iPhone application for searching through each and every About.me profile. No matter whether you’re looking for a potential new hire or trying to find a specific details about a new contact you made – About.me should prove quite useful.
When you open up the app, you’ll see some profiles right away – the featured ones, to be exact. For example, Revision3’s Veronica Belmont as well as Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo who you can see pictured in the lower example:

Browse through the featured profiles, search for specific people or just open up a random person. You can search by name or find profiles of people from your Address Book as well as Facebook and Twitter networks. About.me profiles feature the person’s photograph (which is usually their background photo on the website), bio and at the very bottom – links to their profiles on social media sites and related links.
You can favorite profiles and they’ll appear in the favorites. Duh 🙂 While you can search for profiles in a normal manner, About.me’s developers also added location based search called Who’s nearby. Obviously, it shows you About.me profiles of people near you. You can set the proximity of the search from less than 1 mile to even 50 miles.

You can also open up your profile when you log into About.me, although you won’t be able to edit it in any way, at least not from the Me page. For editing, you’ll have to go to the settings – My details to be specific. Not very intuitive, but you’ll find it. Go download About.me for the iPhone for free on the iTunes App Store.
