About.Me Compliments Speakers and Travelers with New Apps, Among Them – Virtual Compliments

About.Me, one of the most popular single-site portfolio services just got some updates you should know about because they are bringing some new funcionalities which will make your About.Me profile look even better!
If you’re really an About.Me fan, maybe you’ll want to listen to Ryan Freitas, the co-founder of this awesome service – he’s also a speaker at WebFest.Me in Budva, so if you’re up for it, apply for WebFest.Me and you’ll be able to chat with Ryan. If you’re not able to attend the WebFest.Me, Maša did an interview with Ryan a while ago.
Compliments and Dashboard
About.Me was a pretty one-way service – you saw someone’s profile and the only way to contact them, letting them know that you were there was by sending a tweet, email or some other socially-digital message. Compliments is a brand new functionality which will change that – when you stumble upon a nicely designed profile, with extensive CV and everything else that makes you go ‘wow’, simply like the profile and the owner will be notified.
You can also choose why you are complimenting someone; is it because they have a great background or their page is well written? Do you want to collaborate with them or you just want to let them know that you love their page? All the buttons are ready for you!

The Dashboard has also been refreshed – now you’ll see all the activity on your profile – who’s faved your page, you’ll have a glimpse into statistics, favorites and every other page activity there is. Of course, clicking on a single activity will bring up the details of it.
Notifications and Apps
Email notifications are great, however, they could often make you regret using them in the first place. Crowded inbox is bad, filters are easy to set up – but why would you even need to have those notifications in your email system at all? Wouldn’t it be much better to have some kind of notification system on the site itself? That’s what About.Me crew thought as well so now when someone favs or compliments your page, you’ll get a notification for that in the notification bar.

Last, but not the least – the apps. About.Me announced two new apps: Trippy and Speakerfile. Trippy lets you map your travel dreams and create trip plans and show it on your About.Me page. Make your visitors know of all the places you have been with beautiful travel photos. Speakerfile is an expert marketplace to list, discover, and book speaking engagements around the world. If you’re a speaker traveling the world and you’re constantly wanted for conferences, Speakerfile is just the app for your About.Me page!
