5 Domain(er) Apps for Your iPad

4 min read,

The iPad is probably the tablet you’re using right now. As the most popular gadget of its kind in the world, there’s a number of iPad apps specific to the domain industry. While you’re in a meeting or just outside the home or office, why not have the ability to quickly register a domain? Lookup a domain you want to buy? Lets get some apps on your iPad:

GoDaddy

First of all, you’ll want to register a domain name and GoDaddy’s official iPad app does just that. We already showed you how to register a domain name with GoDaddy and their iPad app is an extension of that process.

GoDaddy for the iPad

You can search for domains and register them through the app. Keep in mind you’ll also be able to get one or more of Godaddy’s addon offers such as hosting, email or an instant site builder. Download GoDaddy’s free iPad app.

DomainLocator

Wanted to register that awesome domain name but weren’t sure what domain to get along that awesome .me you already have? 😉 Well, if you use DomainLocator you’ll discover that the .me domain is Montenegrin. Do you know what countries .uy, .ug or .uz represent?

Locate that domain.

Thankfully, Husni Qalalwa’s DomainLocator will tell you either which country has which domain extension or the other way around, what does that specific extension you’re looking at represent. Pretty simple but also pretty useful app that you can download for free on the iTunes App Store.

SEO Search Ranking

When you register a domain name you probably want it to rank well in Google. A higher ranking could mean more traffic which is pretty important if you’ve alredy optimized everything on your website to capture those potential readers, users or customers.

Check your ranking on the iPad.

When you open up the application, you’ll be able to setup an unlimited number of websites and keywords you want to track for those websites. Thankfully, the developer Leon Huang has implemented country-specific search results so they’re no chance of a false report.

Unfortunately, the iPad app is the iPhone version with a bloated interface. Thankfully, you’re getting both in one universal app. SEO Search Ranking isn’t free at $2.99 but it’s worth the money if you want to follow your rankings wherever you go, so go download it.

NSLookup

You’re looking at a domain name and want more informatin about? NSLookup is an iPhone and iPad (obviously) utility application that lets you lookup DNS information about domains. If you’re not familiar with DNS information, it’s compromised of who registered a domain, when, where it’s pointing to etc.

NS? DNS.

Lets say you want to buy a domain name and need more information on the owner 10 minutes before your meeting. Not a particulary realistic situation, but NSLookup would help so download it for free.

Any Domain App for the iPhone Enlarged

While there are only a couple of dozen domain-related apps for the iPad, there are hundreds of them ready for the iPhone and iPod. Thankfully, you can install any of them on your iPad. They might not look well when you enlarge them but they will get the job done. Just enter “whois” or “domain” into the iTunes App Store and use apps like Domain Tools, CroDNS, Namer and others…

So… What apps have you downloaded?
