3Dabout.Me Lets You Find Your Perfect Clothing Size

Do you know those SF movies where one character holds a device that is used to scan a person’s body and the results are put into a computer? The device is usually envisioned as similar to the x-ray machines they use at airports but much cooler, and it allows the user to get an accurate reading of a person’s body shape, size and everything in between.
Well, the future is here now, because the extremely smart people over at 3Dabout.ME have figured out a way to make your online shopping experience a breeze, by allowing you to manually input your size, get sizing from a set of photos and scan yourself in 3D!
Scan This, Scan That, Scan It All About
When shopping online, fear that you will get the size or fit wrong is constantly there. Even when the store has the option to return whatever item you don’t think fits you well, it’s still a lot of work and it’s a lot easier to just go with it and figure out what to do with the shirt that is too big. But, your shopping experience doesn’t have to be like that anymore!
Of course, if you want to go to shops in the real world and sometimes risk being trampled by hordes of people (we’re talking about you, Black Friday in America!) that’s fine with us, but you can also buy stuff online without the worry about how that’s going to fit you, with a simple set of tools developed by 3Dabout.ME.
The idea behind this is very simple for the end user, but truly complex to develop. The 3D system will use complex algorithms and the device’s camera to scan your entire body (or a certain part of it) and then come up with the exact sizes of every part of your body, which will then translate into the clothing sizes you should look for when buying online. Never again will you need to return a product or be concerned if something fits you because your size won’t be determined by the usual sizes of clothes you wear or by a hunch, but by maths and technology.
What Size You Wear? I Wear 10, And I Know It!
All it takes for you to scan your feet, for example, is a phone with the 3Dabout.ME app installed, an A4 format paper, and your legs and feet. The app guides you through the process, and the scanning itself is pretty straightforward and simple. You just put your foot on the paper and take a few photos of it. The app helps you with a big white square on the screen where you should be putting your foot-paper composition, and there it is! After a little while, your foot size is calculated according to the parameters the app is using, and you can go shoe-shopping online with no fear of ever buying anything too large, or too small. We still advise you to check a few reviews first, because some sneakers tend to run large but you already knew that, you internet buyer, you!
You can scan all sorts of things, and your body will be digitalized as soon as you take a few snaps of it. The app is still a work in progress, and developers are working hard to make the 3dabout.ME app the best it can be before it’s marketed to the world. That only leaves us desiring to speed things up so that we can get our bank accounts and computers ready for the seasonal shopping this year. 😉
